Summer Show Showcase 2006 – Saturday-Sunday 8-9 July 2006 at the Arlington Arts Centre, Mary Hare, Newbury
Every other year the Dance School has a chance to show what progress the pupils have achieved through staging three performances of a variety show for the general public. This is always received with great alacrity and praise, as it truly reflects the high standards of the Dance School, in technique as well as costume and presentation. A video is produced to preserve the memories and is available for sale.

Medal Test – Sunday 8 July 2007 at The Blessed Hugh Farringdon Secondary School
Medal Tests are designed for children to enjoy and experience performing on stage, without the pressure of being in a competition. Children have an opportunity to really shine on stage – for more confident children they can perform solos and duets, and the slightly less confident children can perform in trios, quartets and groups. There is no limit to the number of dances a child may perform.

We have an independent adjudicator to assess each dance. The adjudicator's role is to offer helpful and constructive advice to the children and award them a mark (eg pass, merit, distinction, etc). The adjudicator does not compare one child to another, and will assess each child on their own merits. By having an adjudicator the children find it much easier to focus on one friendly face rather than scanning the auditorium for family faces.

All medal test dances must be performed in costume (which is taken into consideration by the adjudicator). For parents who cannot or do not have the time to sew, you can hire costumes. Please contact Nicky or Suzanne. If you are interested in hiring a costume, make sure they are suitable as marks can be lost for unsuitable costumes.
